The way the internet connects people from around the globe is very much advantageous. Communicating online allows people to chat and interact no matter the distance and situation. This brings a far-flung family and friends closer. For instance, children studying abroad can now face-time their family as much as they wish and old friends separated by distance can easily catch-up and talk about the day they were having.
Not only bringing family closer to home, the ability to communicate online is also enabling people to learn wherever and whenever. A great advantage of online communication is well taken during the spread of Covid-19, with such barrier, the student can still learn through online meetings and classes. Another benefit of this invention is the ability to spread news faster even on a bigger scale. News are used to be delivered through local television and papers, but having people communicating all around the world, the news are easily passed on.
However, despite the accessibility, this type of communication must not replace the face-to-face communication because every technology enhancement would always have some sort of disadvantages. The convenience it offers may shift people's behaviour in social interaction. Many of the kids growing up during the new-normal caused by Covid-19 are known to experience social awkwardness and physical interaction is much more fulfilling. Another downside of a fast-passing information could also risk the spread of a hoax or false information which in extreme cases leads to chaos and political issues.
In conclusion, the perks of an online communication system is absolute and it presents solution to many problems, however overusing it could create a gap on physical interaction which affects the quality of life. On another extend, an exploitation of this system may promote the spread of false information
