Crime rates will fall as advances in technology make it easier to detect and prevent crimes.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Crime rates have a correlation with the ability of the police force to detect them. The advancement of technology has made it easier for authorities to trace the perpetrator. From CCTV recordings to digital traces of every transaction, every track is archived in detail so witnesses and evidence would be simple tasks to complete. This made it smoother for criminals to be caught in action, especially for petty crimes like robbery on streets, cases of hit and runs, and other crimes that don't involve digital interventions.

However, advancement of technology is a double-edged sword. Crimes have also evolved, using technology to commit the deed. Cyber-crimes like phishing, crypto jacking, man-in-the-middle attack, and other cyber-related attacks are tougher crimes to crack into. Red-hat hackers have made it their job to
utilise technology for their selfish gain. Instead of dropping, these kinds of attacks spiked a new branch of crime, which needed advanced knowledge of technology to fight it.

To
summarise, technology has made it easier to track traditional crimes, as criminals would be terrified of the consequences of their actions because their crimes would be well documented using technology. Although with the advancement of technology, the new threat of cybercrime loomed over society, hence becoming a brand new challenge for government to control.
