Based on data, in the past several years, people migrations from urban areas to large cities increase consistently. The population density in large cities are going higher from time to time which caused hinger rate of unemployment. The number of available job is limited, but people have to compete with many, just to get one position. Another problem caused by overpopulation is traffic congestion. The road is filled with plenty of vehicles, from private to public transport. It makes us spend more time and energy to reach a destination, while we can use it for any other productive activities.
Another significant factor that may cause overpopulation in large cities is the birth rate is higher than the mortality rate. The role of the government to control the birth rate is crucial. Some strategies need to be applied to the community, such as persuade them to give a space from the birth of an offspring to the next one. We can not force people to limit the number of children they want to have, but we can educate them to plan their future and suggest them that having child require some attempts to provide the best quality of life.
If controlling the birth rate is considered to be less effective, create program like transmigration from large cities to rural areas with lower number of population can be a solution. Governments guarantee the migrated people with jobs and facilities after they arrived in the destinations, so they are able to fulfill their everyday needs. In accordance to the program, the development of infrastructure in urban areas also need to improve, from the primary like railway station to the tertiary like playground and public space. By doing this, we can also avoid urbanization from urban areas to larger cities.
When the root cause of overpopulation can be solved, we can avoid other problems caused by it. We can save the costs for overcoming traffic congestion and unemployment which possibly became more complex. The strategies better be focused to avoid overpopulation.
