With the rise of the internet, comes a new wave of entertainment, video games are the new trend among teens and children. Consequently, this has made the younger generations more reliant on these computer games for joy and pleasure, staving off outdoor activities in return, this trend has given teens more disadvantages than advantages, and this essay will elaborate on why that is the case.
Admittedly, games have offered kids the ability to pass the time from the comfort of their homes, not only do games have a variety of genres to choose from making them a popular choice of entertainment, and via games and the internet as a whole, people can connect and make new friends from all over the globe. With all these benefits it's no wonder video games have become synonymous with the younger generations, with most teens playing regularly.
However, this trend has consequently made teens and children more reliant on these for entertainment, so much so it can be called an addiction, this has made some unwilling to go out and play with friends in the real world, or in extreme cases unable or unwilling to make friends at all. Socializing isn't the only cause for concern, the safety and innocence of children are also distressing, with the internet young children will be subjugated to dangerous content, which can hinder a child's innocence and traumatize them. Lastly, a child's health may also be at risk, if a child is addicted to video games they cannot get the necessary exercise and vitamins needed for the child's growth.
To counteract this, parents should encourage their kids to go outside more often or limit the amount of time the child spends time on digital devices, especially young kids.
In conclusion, the trend of computer games admittedly increased the options for kids or teens way to entertain themselves without having to go out, relieving some stress for adults. However, this has caused numerous amounts of disadvantages that ultimately outweigh the benefits.
